Our deepest remodellingMicroneedling with PRP in Manhattan, NYC
$799 60 Min · 3 for $1,999
Microneedling with PRP in NYC for indented acne scars and texture that facials have not changed. This PRP microneedling treatment pairs fine, controlled needling with platelet-rich plasma drawn from your own blood during the visit. The needling starts the repair, and your platelets support the healing it has started.
Medical treatment provided by Michael Meighen, MD, NY, PLLC, a professional practice owned by licensed physicians.
What It Is
How PRP microneedling works
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, makes thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. The skin repairs each one with new collagen and elastin. Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is the part of your own blood that carries platelets and growth factors. It is separated in a centrifuge here at Skin Lab Clinic during your appointment and applied into those channels while they are open.
The needling does the remodelling. The platelets support the healing that follows. A split-face study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (Asif and colleagues, 2016) found more improvement in atrophic acne scars on the side treated with microneedling and PRP than on the side treated with microneedling alone.
It is the step up from Glass Skin Microneedling. Same needling, with your own platelets added. That is the difference between $299 and $799, and it is worth it for scarring rather than for general glow.

What It Treats
Concerns worth this treatment
This is not a general refresher. If your concern is on this list, it is the right booking. If it is not, something simpler will serve you better.
Acne scar treatment with PRP
Rolling and boxcar scars that have not responded to facials or peels. This is the main reason people book it.
Deeper texture
Skin that has thinned and lost resilience, where the goal is rebuilding rather than resurfacing.
Enlarged pores
Firmer tissue around each pore makes pores across the nose and cheeks look tighter.
Static lines
Lines that stay when the face is at rest, where Botox has nothing to relax.
Early loss of firmness
Skin along the jawline and lower face that has started to soften gains some firmness over a course.
Stretch marks and body scars
Body areas can be treated too. Older marks respond less than newer ones.
Results depend on scar depth, age and your own healing. Deep ice-pick scarring often needs more than one course, and we say so before you start.
Your Appointment
What the 60 minutes involves
The Practice's licensed provider maps the areas and sets needle depth, then takes a small blood sample, much like a routine blood test.
Topical numbing goes on while your sample spins in the centrifuge to separate the plasma. Both need time, which is why the appointment is a full hour.
The pen moves across each area in sections. You feel pressure and a light scratching. The plasma is applied into the channels as the pass goes.
Barrier support and SPF, written aftercare for the next 48 hours, and a date for your next session.
Good to know before you book
- Eat and drink water beforehand; it makes the blood draw easier
- Topical numbing is included and given time to work
- Expect redness like moderate sunburn for two to three days
- Plan it at least two weeks before anything important
- Photos are taken at each visit under the same lighting
- Not suitable during active breakouts or infection in the area
If your skin is not in the right condition on the day, we reschedule rather than treat.
The Course
Three sessions, $1,999
Collagen remodelling builds on itself. One session starts the process; three sessions four to six weeks apart is where visible change in scarring usually comes from. The course saves $398 against three single sessions.
Baseline photographs and a conservative depth while we see how your skin responds.
Depth adjusted to how you healed. Texture usually shifts before scarring does.
Final pass, then a review at three and six months to decide whether more is worthwhile.
Is It Right For You
Who books PRP microneedling, and who should wait
If you are unsure which list you are in, a $150 consultation is the right first step, and it is applied to same-day treatment.
You are likely a good fit if
- You have indented acne scars that facials and peels have not improved
- You want gradual change from your own collagen, not filler
- You can commit to a course of three over about three months
- You can plan two to three days of visible redness
Wait, or ask first, if
- You take blood thinners or have a blood or platelet disorder
- You have active acne, cold sores or an infection in the area
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are on isotretinoin or have used it in the last six months
- You have a history of keloid scarring
Recovery
Recovery, day by day
PRP microneedling has more downtime than plain microneedling, but it is predictable.
Flushed like moderate sunburn, warm and tight. Leave the skin alone.
Redness fades, some swelling possible. Most clients are comfortable in makeup by day two or three.
Dryness and slight roughness as the surface turns over. Do not pick or exfoliate.
Collagen keeps remodelling for months. Scarring is judged against your baseline photos at six months.
Aftercare that actually matters
No saunas, steam rooms, hot workouts or swimming for 48 hours. No retinol, acids or vitamin C for five days. Daily SPF is not optional while new collagen forms. In a New York summer, book so the first two days fall on days you can stay mostly indoors.
Call us if anything feels wrong. We would rather hear about it on day one than day five.

Common Questions
Microneedling with PRP, answered honestly
What is the difference between microneedling with PRP and regular microneedling?
The needling is the same; PRP adds your own platelets. Glass Skin Microneedling at $299 is needling on its own. This treatment at $799 adds platelet-rich plasma prepared from your blood during the appointment, which supports healing and pushes remodelling further. For general texture the simpler option is usually enough. For indented scarring, the platelets earn their cost.
How much does microneedling with PRP cost in NYC?
$799 for a single 60-minute session, or $1,999 for a course of three, which saves $398. Scarring is treated as a course rather than a one-off, and the price you book is the price you pay.
How many sessions do I need?
Three, spaced four to six weeks apart, is the standard protocol. Deep ice-pick scarring sometimes needs more than one course, and you are told that at the assessment rather than finding out later.
How much blood is taken?
A small sample, similar to a routine blood test. It is drawn at the start of the appointment, spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, and used the same day. Nothing is stored.
Does it hurt?
Not much once the numbing has worked. Most clients describe pressure and a light scratching rather than pain, felt most on the forehead and jawline. You can ask to pause at any point.
What is the downtime?
Two to three days. Expect redness like moderate sunburn on the day, fading across the next few days, with possible swelling. Most people are comfortable in makeup by day two or three. Plan it at least two weeks before anything important.
When will I see results in my scarring?
Texture improves within weeks, but scarring is slow work. Collagen keeps remodelling for months after each session, which is why results are judged at six months against your baseline photos rather than a few weeks in.
Is it safe for darker skin tones?
Yes, it is generally well tolerated across skin tones because it uses no laser or light to target pigment. Needle depth is still adjusted to your skin, and daily SPF afterwards matters more, not less.
Who performs the treatment?
Performed by a licensed provider of Michael Meighen, MD, NY, PLLC, the professional practice that provides medical treatments at Skin Lab, with blood drawn and processed here in the clinic. If the treatment is not appropriate for your skin on the day, we reschedule rather than proceed.
