What It Is
Replacing what time removed
Faces do not simply wrinkle as they age. They lose volume. Fat pads in the cheek descend and shrink, bone resorbs quietly underneath, and the structure that once held everything up gives way. The result reads as tiredness, hollowing and a heaviness around the mouth and jaw.
Dermal filler is placed to restore that lost structure. Most modern fillers are hyaluronic acid based, a substance the body already produces, which is part of why they are reversible. Where it is placed matters more than how much is used, and the best result is usually the one nobody can identify.
Filler and Botox are not alternatives. Botox relaxes muscles to soften movement lines. Filler replaces volume. If you are treating the wrong problem with the wrong tool, no amount of it will work.

Areas Treated
Where filler is placed
Each area behaves differently and needs a different product, depth and quantity. That is why the price is only honest after an assessment.
Often the first place volume goes. Restoring structure here lifts the mid-face and softens everything below it.
Definition and hydration rather than size. Conservative work here looks like your own lips on a good day.
The tear trough. Technically demanding, and not appropriate for every face. Sometimes the honest answer here is no.
The lines from nose to mouth. Frequently better treated by restoring cheek volume above them than by filling the fold itself.
Definition along the jaw and projection at the chin, which changes the profile more than most people expect.
Hollowing at the temples ages a face quietly. Often overlooked, and a small amount goes a long way.
Suitability for each area is assessed individually. Under-eye filler in particular is not right for everyone, and you will be told plainly if your anatomy does not suit it.
The Cost Question
Why fillers are priced at consultation
Filler is charged by the syringe, and different products cost different amounts because they are engineered for different jobs. A firm product for cheek structure is not the same as a soft one for lips. How many syringes you need depends on how much volume has been lost and what you are trying to achieve.
A single area sometimes takes one syringe and sometimes takes two. Quoting a flat price online would mean either overcharging people who need less or setting an expectation we would have to break in the room. Neither is a good way to start.
What actually happens. Your face is assessed, a plan is agreed, and you are given the total before anything is opened. If it is more than you had in mind, we can stage it across visits or treat fewer areas. You are never committed until you say so.
What you get before you commit
- An assessment of where volume has actually been lost
- An honest view on whether filler is the right tool at all
- The product, the number of syringes and the total price
- The option to stage treatment across several visits
- A realistic answer on how long it will last in your case
- No pressure to treat areas you did not ask about
If your concern is skin quality rather than volume, skin boosters are the correct treatment and cost less. We will point you there rather than sell you filler.
Your Appointment
What the 30 minutes involves
Your face is assessed at rest and in movement, and the areas where volume has genuinely been lost are identified. Sometimes that is not where you thought.
Product, syringes and total confirmed before anything is prepared. This is the decision point.
Most fillers contain anaesthetic and topical numbing is used as well. Placement is done with a needle or cannula depending on the area.
The result is checked with you in the mirror before you leave, with written aftercare for the next 48 hours.
What to expect afterwards. You see a result immediately, but it is not the final one. Swelling is normal for the first few days, particularly in the lips, and the filler settles over about two weeks. Judge it at two weeks rather than that evening.
Bruising is possible and more likely under the eyes and in the lips. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and facials for 48 hours, and do not book this within two weeks of an important event.
Common Questions
Dermal fillers, answered honestly
How much do dermal fillers cost in NYC?
Filler is charged by the syringe, and the product used varies by area because lips, cheeks and tear troughs need different consistencies. We price at consultation for that reason. You are given the product, the number of syringes and the total before anything is opened, and you can stage the treatment or decline at that point.
How long do fillers last?
Typically six to eighteen months depending on the product, the area and your own metabolism. Lips tend to metabolise faster than cheeks because they move constantly. Your practitioner gives you a realistic figure for the specific areas being treated.
What is the difference between Botox and filler?
They solve different problems. Botox relaxes muscles so the lines movement creates soften. Filler replaces lost volume and restores structure. Many people need one and think they need the other, which is exactly what the assessment is for.
Will it look obvious?
Overfilling is what looks obvious, and it is a choice rather than an inevitability. Conservative placement restores structure without announcing itself. If you want a subtle result, say so, and if we think what you are asking for will look overdone we will tell you before treating.
Is filler reversible?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed. That is one of the reasons they are the most commonly used type, and it is worth knowing before your first treatment.
Does it hurt?
Most fillers contain local anaesthetic and topical numbing is applied beforehand. Lips are the most sensitive area. Most clients describe pressure and brief discomfort rather than pain.
What is the downtime?
Swelling for a few days, particularly in the lips, and bruising is possible. Avoid exercise, alcohol and saunas for 48 hours. Do not book filler within two weeks of a wedding, shoot or anything else that matters.
Who administers the treatment?
Injectables are administered by a registered nurse under medical direction. Suitability is assessed before treatment, and certain conditions, medications and anatomies rule out particular areas.
