The Advanced is our medical facial in NYC for hyperpigmentation, rough texture and sun damage. It includes everything in the Signature, plus a medical peel or microdermabrasion, collagen stimulation and LED recovery, for the concerns a single-layer facial cannot reach.
What It Is
When one layer is not enough
The Signature does a lot in an hour. But settled pigment, years of texture build-up and the flat tone of sun damage sit deeper than one protocol reaches. The surface has to be resurfaced first, so everything after it can work.
The Advanced adds three things to the Signature base: a medical peel or microdermabrasion chosen on the day, collagen stimulation to support firmness as well as glow, and LED recovery to calm the skin afterwards.
It is the step up at Skin Lab Clinic, not a different facial. The extra 15 minutes and $200 buy depth.

How your 75 minutes run
Your aesthetician assesses your skin and chooses a medical peel or microdermabrasion. Reactive skin gets the gentler option; compacted texture gets the deeper one.
Double cleanse and hydrodermabrasion, then the resurfacing pass. This is what sets the Advanced apart.

Downtime and Results
What the next few weeks look like
Unlike the Signature, the Advanced has a little downtime. Most people wear makeup again by the next morning.
Flushing and warmth for a few hours, then it settles.
Some tightness or sensitivity is normal.
Light flaking if a peel was used. Brightness and smoothness show clearly from day three.
Pigment fades gradually. Stubborn pigment usually needs a course of three, then the Signature to maintain.

Getting Ready
Before your appointment
- Pause retinol and strong acids for five days
- Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for a week
- Tell us about recent peels, treatments, medications and allergies
- Do not book within a week of an important event
After your appointment
- Barrier cream and SPF only for 48 hours
- No saunas, steam, hot workouts or swimming for two days
- Do not pick or scrub any flaking skin
- Skip actives for a week, then reintroduce slowly

What is the difference between the Signature and the Advanced?
The Advanced includes everything in the Signature, plus a medical peel or microdermabrasion, collagen stimulation and LED recovery. Choose it for pigment, texture or sun damage. If your skin is simply tired, the Signature is enough.
How long does it take?
75 minutes. The extra time over the Signature goes to the resurfacing pass and LED recovery.
Peel or microdermabrasion: which will I get?
Your aesthetician decides at the analysis. Reactive or thinner skin usually gets microdermabrasion; compacted texture and stubborn pigment usually get a medical peel. You are told which, and why, before treatment.
Is there downtime?
A little. Flushing for a few hours, possible tightness the next day, and light flaking on days two to three if a peel was used. Most people wear makeup the next morning.
Is this a good facial for hyperpigmentation and melasma?
It softens dark spots and melasma, often noticeably. Long-standing pigment usually needs a short course and daily SPF, or it returns. You will get a realistic estimate at your assessment.
Is it safe for darker skin tones?
Yes, with careful method choice. Microdermabrasion is generally the safer option on deeper skin tones, and any peel is chosen accordingly. The analysis decides the protocol, not the booking.
How often should I have it?
Every four to six weeks, usually a course of three for pigment and texture, then the Signature for maintenance. You are given a real interval, not a subscription.
Can I combine it with Botox or fillers?
Not on the same day, as resurfaced skin needs to settle. Botox and fillers are usually spaced one to two weeks apart. They are provided by Michael Meighen, MD, NY, PLLC, whose licensed provider advises on timing.
